We are fortunate to work alongside generous contractors who want to invest in our communities and donate into our Community Benefits Fund. This year, we had a total of £3,500 in grant money available to fund activities, events, sports, and equipment that benefit our tenants and people living in our communities. Each applicant can be awarded up to £500, meaning we can support up to six initiatives every year.
A new Community Benefit Panel was established for the 2025–2026 funding year to review and score the applications we receive, with eight successful applicants going on to receive a total of £3,150 to fund various activities.
These are the projects that have been funded through the community benefit fund over the last year:
St Peter’s Primary School, Roath – £400
St Peter’s Primary School submitted an application to cover the cost of a Christmas grotto and gifts for pupils. They were awarded £400, which supported the school’s Christmas Fayre and Grotto attended by school families and the wider community. The funding also ensured each child received a gift, regardless of attendance at the event, supporting inclusivity and dignity.
Tremorfa Nursery – £500
Tremorfa Nursery was awarded £500 for a day trip to Cantre Farm last Easter. The funding allowed the nursery to hire a coach for 26 adults and 44 children and secured discounted entry to the farm to ensure value for money for families. Parents commented on the fun day out they had, and how enjoyable it was to see their children explore a new area for the first time and feed the farm animals.
“Many thanks to CCHA as without this funding we would not have been able to provide this experience for families.”
Splott Community Volunteers – £200
Splott Community Volunteers were awarded £200 for a picnic get together for the community. The community volunteer group served 120 lunches over two events, creating the opportunity for members of the community to come together in a social setting and eat a hearty, healthy meal with neighbours, making new friends, and decreasing loneliness and isolation.
“The picnic was fantastic and something that we definitely want to turn into an annual event. Thank you for funding the activity.”
Llanrumney Baby Bank – £320
Pen y Bryn School hosts a baby and toddler group every Friday morning in Llanrumney, where they also provide a baby bank for anyone in need of essentials like nappies and baby wipes. The group applied to our community benefit fund last year and were awarded £320 to buy essential supplies for the baby bank.
The project supports vulnerable families by providing practical essentials through a trusted, non‑judgemental setting, encouraging participation and reducing social isolation.
Trowbridge Beatz Youth Sessions – £450
After a successful and well attended youth club funded by Encon last year, Trowbridge Beatz applied for funding from our Community Benefit Fund to deliver more sessions. They have been awarded £450 which will provide the funding to put on two additional sessions in conjunction with Cardiff youth services, which run weekly at Trowbridge Community Centre. The sessions include group music projects, performances and creative writing.
Moorland Road Primary School – £500
Moorland Road Primary school applied for and were awarded the funding to buy outdoor play equipment for their early years department, which is due to be installed ready for the new summer term.
Glan yr Afon Primary School – £280
Glan yr Afon Primary School used £280 of allocated Community Benefit funding to buy new goal posts to support school and wider community events.
Rubicon Dance, Adamsdown – £450
Ten fully funded spaces will be offered to CCHA tenants on Rubicon Dance School’s Summer programme, thanks to a successful application to our Community Benefit Fund. The Summer programme is aimed at children aged 7-11 and will be advertised to the wider community once the CCHA places are allocated.
