Our commitment to building more homes to meet housing need across Cardiff has been progressing over the last year, with new homes being built, completed and prepared for future delivery on sites across the city.
Recent progress on site
Over the last year, work has started on three sites. Callaghan House, CCHA’s former offices in Adamsdown, is being refurbished into six apartments. At St Johns in Rumney, 58 new homes are expected by Winter 2027, and at St Julians in Old St Mellons, four new homes are due to be handed over in Summer 2026.
Construction is also continuing at Albert Quarter, formerly Moira Terrace. The refurbishment is on course for completion by Autumn 2026 and is expected to provide 24 apartments at below-market rent, along with 11 commercial units for local businesses.
Sant Silian in Old St Mellons was completed in Spring 2026, delivering 36 new homes after a three-year build programme.
Sites acquired for future development
Five additional sites have also been bought for future development:
- New Fleurs, Splott
- Birchgrove Road, Heath
- Salvation Army, Splott
- Gwennyth Street, Cathays
- Newbridge Inn, Rumney
Together, these new sites reflect ongoing progress in our affordable housing programme, which aims to deliver between 50 and 100 new homes each year.
