We are thrilled to see work start on a new site in Old St Mellons, which will see a block of nine 1 & 2 bed apartments and 27 houses being built by contractor, Dandara, as part of a Section 106 agreement.

Our new Chief Executive, Brian Picket said ““We are delighted to work with Dandara for the first time and look forward to seeing this site develop over the coming years. Once complete, this development will see 36 families find new homes, that are affordable, great quality and in a fantastic location.”

The houses will be a mix of two, three and four bedroom homes, all with off road parking, solar panels, front and rear gardens and garden sheds, while the apartments will benefit from shared cycle store and communal bin area. All 36 homes will meet EPC A ratings and will be available for affordable rent at various stages over the next three years, with the first phase due to finish in March before completion in 2026.

The Sant Silian development is in a great location, within walking distance of the supermarkets, shops, restaurants and gyms at Cardiff Gate Retail Park.

Sean Taylor, Dandara Wales & West Planning Manager, said:

“It’s been great working with CCHA on the Sant Silian development, helping to deliver 36 much needed energy efficient, affordable homes for them in the north-east of the city.

“One of the key ambitions of the project was to focus on Welsh skills and materials, creating new jobs for the area and opportunities for local contractors and businesses, and we are pleased that the private and social homes we are building there are benefitting not just local buyers but the local economy too.

“The Dandara team is excited to be part of the wider project to breathe new life into this up-and-coming area of Cardiff, which will see the creation of a vibrant new community with a local centre, school, allotments and a riverside park.”
